If we are to be honest, the Dremel 4200 tool itself is great. It is basically the Dremel 4000 – but lighter, slightly longer and with a slightly longer cord.
In practice though, this tool has probably been let down by the ‘love it or hate it’ Dremel EZ Change system for holding the bits.
A common complaint is that the system is either unreliable, or doesn’t hold the bits tight enough during operation.
If you are worried about this, Dremel has you covered as they do have the very reliable Dremel 4000 and Dremel 4300 models.

What’s Not So Great?
- EZ change system doesn’t work well in reality for some people – issues with holding the bits/accessories tightly
- If you are getting a high performance electric Dremel tool, the Dremel 4300 or Dremel 4000 might be a better option if you are concerned about the EZ change system
- The Dremel 4300 has replaced this tool as the premium high performance electrical dremel tool
